The Eskom Expo for Young Scientists is South Africa’s leading, and only existing, national science fair that affords learners the opportunity to enter a project to exhibit their own scientific investigation. The project aims to inspire and develop young scientists who are able to identify a problem, analyse information, find solutions and communicate findings effectively.
The 2018 Eskom Expo for Young Scientists Grahamstown Regional Final which is coordinated by Scifest Africa will be held in Grahamstown on Saturday, 4 August at the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences Building, Rhodes University, Artillery Road.
Fantastic prizes are up for grabs at the Regional Final, including scholarships for the first year of study in the fields of science at Rhodes University, trophies, medals, book prizes and vouchers, while prizes at the International Science Fair include selection to represent South Africa at other international science fairs abroad, scholarships, trophies, medals, and other prizes such as iReaders, laptops and tablets.
The entry fee for the Regional Final is minimal at R25-00 per learner thanks to sponsorship from Eskom and Rhodes University.
Please note that a learner may only enter one project in one category at the Regional Final. Individual entries are encouraged, and while a maximum of two learners may work together on a project, only one individual will be allowed to represent the project at the International Science Fair.
