20 July 2022 After two years of hosting Scifest Africa virtually, South Africa's national science festival is returning to its live format in Makhanda from 7 - 13 September 2022! Our theme for 2022 is “Back to the Basics”, inspired by UNESCO’s “International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development 2022”. 24 March 2022 After two years of hosting Scifest Africa virtually, South Africa's national science festival is returning to its live format in Makhanda from 7 - 13 September  2022!  Since 1996, Scifest Africa has been a doorway into the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Innovation (STEMI) for the people of South Africa. ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... LAUNCH! 19 October 2020 For the first time in 24 years SciFest Africa, South Africa’s National Science Festival, has gone virtual! The online presentation of the festival affords Scifest Africa the opportunity to extend our celebration of science beyond the week-long format of a physical festival. Already in progress, the festival is set to run over six months until the end of March 2021.
